Infrastructure development stressed
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday reviewed the annual development programmes (ADPs) of different districts, including Kandhkot-Kashmore, Shikarpur and Dadu, in Karachi at the CM House.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Dr Sikandar Mendhro, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Jam Khan Shoro, Imdad Pitafi, and Fayaz Butt, and Planning and Development Chairman M Waseem, Principal Secretary to CM Sohail Rajput, and Provincial Secretaries Fazal Pechuho, Hassan Naqvi, Jamal Shah, Aziz Uqaili, Aijaz Memon, Ramzan Awan, local representatives of the concerned districts and others.
CM while reviewing the ADP of Kandhkot-Kashmore district said that the both districts are located on the borders of Balochistan and Punjab; therefore, both the cities must be developed and kept neat and clean and there should not be any encroachments.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed the education minister to ensure the provision of educational facilities to all, particularly girls, as the districts lack colleges for them, on a priority basis.
The chief minister was also briefed about Karampur Cadet College and was informed that 60 per cent construction work has been completed.
The chief minister also issued the directive to acquire land for a stadium at Tangwani and construction of a road to connect Karampur with Tangwani.
The chief minister said that he had identified 13 schemes which would be completed by June 2017 because their full funds have been released.
Shikarpur’s development projects: Once Shikarpur city was compared with Paris and now it was facing serious issues, and the city’s foremost problem was its drainage and he wanted to resolve it at any cost, this CM said while reviewing ADP of Shikarpur district.
The chief minister expressed displeasure over the progress of drainage scheme in Shikarpur and directed Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro to personally monitor the drainage work.
The chief minister was also briefed about cattle colony project and road schemes.
In the meeting, development programmes for Garhi Yasin, Lakhi, Lodra and Kot Sultan were also discussed. It may be noted that in Shikarpur district, 10 departments have launched 50 ADP schemes for Rs2069.550 million, while the utilisation is Rs485.236 million.
Dadu’s development projects: Dadu district must be connected through road networks with small villages and towns to facilitate people of the area, said the Sindh chief minister.
Murad Shah expressed displeasure over the remodelling of Dadu Canal and Johi Branch and directed Irrigation Secretary Jamal Shah to personally monitor the work and make it a quality work.The schemes under Works Department also came under discussion and the chief minister directed Works Minister Imdad Pitafi to personally monitor the work.

It may be noted that 12 different departments have launched 122 schemes in Dadu district for Rs7977.556 million against which Rs3107.008 million have been released while Rs1899.660 million have been utilised.
