KARACHI: An important meeting to review arrangements for controlling chikungunya’s rapid spread in the metropolis was held under the supervision of Sindh Health Secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho at the Sindh Secretariat and it was decided to purchase 20,000 rapid chikungunya diagnostic kits to detect viral fever cases.
The Health director general, Health Services director, Medical and Health Services senior director, district health officers (DHOs), and medical superintendents of hospitals were also present.
Chikungunya Control and Prevention Focal Person Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi, while talking to PPI, said an important meeting to review Chikungunya situation in the city was held in which Secretary Health Sindh Dr Fazlullah Pechuho directed the officials to purchase 20,000 rapid diagnostic kits to detect Chikungunya viral fever cases.
He said a summary in this regard will be moved very soon for approval of the budget to buy the kits. He informed that camps will be arranged in Ibrahim Hyderi, Saudabad and other disease-stricken areas to detect chikungunya fever cases. He said that chikungunya viral fever cases can be diagnosed in few seconds once the kits are available.
