A bypass, which crosses different cities and towns of Badin, and leads to the Thar coal has become fatal and disastrous for Badin residents due to faulty construction. To top it all off, there are no signboards and speed breakers.

The bypass crosses the five major cities of Badin district, including Golarchi, Badin, Khoski and Shadi Large.

During a short span of time, more than 20 youths have lost their lives due to accidents; the major causes of the accidents are: no construction of speed breakers, lack of speed reflectors, and no installations of sign boards, etc.

According to a report, mostly motorcyclists have died in these accidents. Every Friday, despite the presence of police, many motorcyclists perform one wheeling on the same bypass without any restriction and hurdles, Pakistan Today observed.

Recently, two students, Hamza Khan and Umair, also lost their lives due to an accident at the same bypass and another sustained serious injury. Meanwhile, a few months ago the vehicle of DC Tharparkar also hit a young lawyer and who died on the spot.

Other deaths were also reported due to several accidents on the same bypass.

Citizens of Badin, including Imran Soomro, Fateh Muhammad Gopang, Ali Ghulam, Mashooq Ali, Akbar Lund and others, while expressing their concern over increasing numbers of accidents, said that the inefficient construction of the bypass has added to the miseries and worries of the residents here.

The coal authorities are not installing signs to save their money, the citizens alleged.

They demanded the government to take notice of the situation and make necessary arrangements to make the bypass safe.
