Survey to identify free Wi-Fi services points in Rawalpindi starts next week

The Punjab Information Technology Board has decided to start a survey of various places in the next week to identify free Wi-Fi service points in Rawalpindi, to ensure access of Wi-Fi services to the residents of Rawalpindi.

Punjab Information Technology Board will identify the areas to provide free Wi-Fi services to the citizens as per directives of Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif .

An official of Punjab Information Technology Board on condition of anonymity informed that free Wi-Fi services would be extended at 30 public places; while state of the art internet towers worth Rs30 million would also be installed.

During the first phase, the board team would visit Nawaz Sharif park, Liaqat Bagh park, metro stations located in Rawalpindi, Benazir general hospital, Rawalpindi development authority, WASA, Holy Family hospital, Rawalpindi railway station, Benazir Bhutto international airport, Raja bazaar, Moti bazaar, commercial market, commissioner office and district courts.

During the second phase, the team would visit cantonment hospital, Race Course Park Mall Road, Jinnah Park, Romi Park Mall Road and other areas.

Meanwhile, free Wi-Fi services would also be provided in other places at a later stage.

All possible initiatives are being taken to complete the project by June 10th as per the board orders.
