SC seeks inquiry report regarding torture on women by FIA officials

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has asked for the departmental inquiry report regarding torture on women by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials at Islamabad airport.

The court has also summoned progress report regarding the investigation by airport police station.

The Chief Justice took suo moto notice of the matter and two cases, one against the immigration officials and the other one against the mother and the daughter, were lodged.

Earlier, a woman and her daughter were stopped from flying to Norway at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan Airport.

On April 19, the officials at Benazir Bhutto International Airport had a minor dispute with passengers Haseena Begum and Fauzia Umar who were traveling through a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane.

Both women were taken to a room where FIA officials allegedly assualted them. Later on, the airport management claimed that the female passengers had initiated the attack and the situation escalated.
