Mardan student lynching: Request sent to Interior Ministry for inclusion of suspects’ names in ECL

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has decided to include the names of two suspects of Mardan student lynching case in the Exit Control List (ECL), a private TV channel reported on Thursday.

The KP Police has requested the Interior Ministry to include the names two absconders in Mashal Khan’s lynching case name Arif Khan and Ali Khan.

Police have sent the details of the two suspects in the letter to the Interior Ministry.

It should be noted that both suspects have been accused of inciting the mob to torture Mashal Khan.

It should be noted that hundreds of students beat to death a classmate known for his liberal views on a university campus in the country’s conservative north-west.

Mashal Khan, a journalism student, was stripped, beaten, shot, and thrown from the second floor of his hostel at the Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, sources at the university said.

Graphic video footage from the scene shows dozens of men outside the hostel kicking and hurling projectiles at a body sprawled on the ground.

The killing comes as Pakistani authorities, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, have been increasingly vocal over blasphemy in recent weeks.

The authorities have arrested 47 suspects in the case so far.
