FAISALABAD/SHEIKHUPURA: Four suspects were killed in two separate ‘encounters’ in Faisalabad and Sheikhupura the other day, police sources have stated.
Police sources said that the suspects, Qaisar and Fayyaz, who were alleged to have been involved in serious crimes such as robberies, were being escorted for recovery when their accomplices opened fire on the police team near Khanwala area to free them.
The gunfire by their accomplices seriously wounded the two suspects, while one of the attackers was also injured in retaliation by the law enforcers. The attackers, however, managed to flee away.
The wounded suspects were being shifted to hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries on the way.
In another instance, two suspected robbers were killed in an encounter in Sheikhupura. Police claimed that when the armed robbers were robbing the people on Sargodha Road, they opened fire on a police vehicle they spotted, officials said.
The retaliatory fire by the law enforcers left two suspected robbers dead, while their accomplices successfully fled.
In addition, weapons have been recovered that had belonged to the deceased robbers.The bodies were later shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
