KP police want PTI Councillor Arif Khan’s name to be put on ECL

MARDAN: KP police have requested for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) councillor Arif Khan’s name to be included on the Exit control list (ECL). Arif Khan is one of the primary suspects in the Mashal Khan murder case, and is still at-large.

In a video that surfaced after the brutal murder of Mashal Khan, Arif Khan was seen urging a crowd to keep the name of the person who shot Mashal Khan, secret.

Police has released list of 49 accused in the lynching case out of which 47 have been arrested. Arif Khan was initially thought to have been arrested. However, doubts were raised after Bushra Gohar’s tweets surfaced, who claimed that Arif was trying to escape to Thailand and PTI Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Iftikhar Mashwani was helping him in this regard. However, Mr Mashwani strongly rejected Bushra Gohar’s accusations.

It has been confirmed that Arif has not been arrested as of yet. However, he cannot travel abroad as duration of his passport has expired, according to reports.

Mashal Khan, a student of Journalism Department of Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, was lynched and then brutally murdered on April 13, 2017.
