NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday test-fired advanced version of its ‘Brahmos’ cruise missile, according to Indian media outlets.
Indian media claimed that Wednesday’s test was successful as the “test flight met all parameters.” They said the missile hit its target accurately.
“The test firing of the block–III version of the missile demonstrated the weapon’s unmatched lethality of hitting the centre of a designated target with “bull’s eye” precision,” a senior Army official was quoted as saying by a foreign news agency.
The surface-to-surface cruise missile was launched from a mobile autonomous launcher (MAL) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Indian Navy conducted its first test-firing of the sea-to-land attack version of its advanced supersonic cruise missile Brahmos, on April 22 this year. The Brahmos missile is developed by a joint-venture between Russia’s Mashinostroyenia and India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
