BADIN: Former President and Pakistan Peoples’ Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation, once again, for the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Panama case to probe independently.

The party would continue to demand a resignation from Sharif until unless he was either removed or was willing to step down, Zardari stressed.

Asif Ali Zardari expressed these views while addressing a public gathering in Rahuki town, Badin district.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Qaim Ali Shah, and Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Senator Aajiz Dhamrah, Pappu Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, and other PPP leaders accompanied Zardari during his visit to Badin.

“Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership was responsible for the ongoing political mess in the country,” he said.

The slogan ‘Go Nawaz Go’ was getting momentum with each passing day because of the silly and timid politics of Sharif brothers and their aides, he said and added that the PML-N has failed to win popular support, however, his party has popular support.

He went on to say that Nawaz Sharif was not aware of the rural economy of the country but was only focusing on to doling out the contracts in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to his close friends instead of creating opportunities for the people of Baluchistan and Sindh.

“Such situations would create a sense of deprivation among the people of smaller provinces,” he warned.

Zardari, while criticising the current government, said the gas and power supplied to the province is not on par with the need of the province, and the province is being denied its due share.

Zardari said that Nawaz Sharif was trying to extend his rule to get the majority members in the Senate. Zardari, while pointing out at PTI Chairman Imran Khan, said that the man carrying a bat was not aware of the real basic issues of the country.

Zardari, while announcing his plans for the future, said that the stipends under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) would be doubled and more lands would be allotted to poor farmers.

The party is getting a positive response from Punjab and KP; the party also plans on resolving problems of people of Balochistan. The PPP would form the government in Punjab by winning the next general elections, he claimed.

The PPP co-chairman, while welcoming Mohammad Ismail Rahu in the party, said that with the joining of seasoned politicians PPP would win the next general elections.

The PPP would not only sweep elections from Sindh but would get maximum NA seats from other provinces to form the next federal government, he claimed.

Zardari, while lauding the services of noted peasant leader Shaheed Fazil Rahu and father of Mohammad Ismail Rahu, said that he lived and laid down his life for the cause of downtrodden people and democratic process. He said that late Rahu had struggled against three dictators but never deviated from his principled stance.

Mohammad Ismail Rahu, after announcing to join the PPP, said that his father Shaheed Fazil Rahu and slain leader of PPP Benazir Bhutto had fought together during MRD and faced the tribulations for the restoration of democracy.

The Rahu family opposed the PPP for 30 years but it was high time to join hands with the party, he added.

Benazir Bhutto had also visited Rahuki to attend the death anniversary of his father, he recalled.

Zardari landed in village Sardar Yousaf Khan Chang near Kario Ghanwar town where he laid floral wreath on Rahu’s grave and offered Fateha.

Earlier, former President of PML-N Sindh Mohammad Ismail Rahu and his brothers, including Aslam Rahu and Saleem Rahu, announced to join PPP.
