KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has directed the Sindh Higher Education Commission to prepare a comprehensive strategy for the promotion of research-oriented education in the province.
The Sindh governor issued these directives, while talking to Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Asim Hussain, in a meeting at the Governor House here on Wednesday.
The governor and HEC chairman, on the occasion, discussed matters related to research and promotion of higher education, with specific reference to the role of local universities, in the province.
Progress and prosperity of modern day society are closely linked to its quality of education and research, the governor said.
The governor, mentioning all-out efforts being made by National Higher Education Commission for strengthening centres of higher learning and research, said the youth in the country are extremely talented.
“All we need to do is to provide them with proper guidance and opportunities, especially in the field of research, that may enable them to make use of their capacities,” said Muhammad Zubair.
The HEC – Sindh chairman and governor also agreed that there a need for university reforms as this might be used as a crucial tool for meaningful promotion of higher education in the country.
The two also agreed that university level syllabus and course plans needed to be updated as this can also be helpful in achieving the goals of progress and development.
The HEC – Sindh chairman appreciated interest shown by the governor towards the matters related to education in the province.
