These days the existence of parks is decreasing in our society. There are not many parks available for families or for women to go to alone for a breath of fresh air or just to spend a day out with their kids.
There used to be a park across my house – Khushbu Park – in North Nazimabad, Karachi. No maintenance was provided to the park and so now the park is in ruins. Now, there is no greenery there, the laughter of children, the chatter, it’s all gone – it’s just barren land. In the day time it’s become a place for all the uneducated public of Pahar Ganj to come and act rowdy in, creating an inconvenience for the residents of the area. While at night time the overgrown trees and bushes have become a home for the drug addicts to hide in.
