Capital development authority continued to ignore encroachments in the city which has made life difficult for traders, shoppers and masses, a business leader said on Wednesday.

The department has transformed Islamabad into a dirty city. Recently, it launched an operation against encroachments which has also been compromised that has given strength to qabza mafia, said United Business Group central leader and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) former vice president Mirza Abdul Rehman.

He said that small traders and those who use push carts to earn a living were targeted during the recent operations but big fish was not touched.

Despite the orders of the supreme court and the high court, commercial activities are being supported in the residential areas which are full of offices, guest houses, hotels, restaurants, schools, tuition centres and NGOs, he added.
