PM Nawaz addresses gathering in Layyah

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday addressed a gathering in Layyah.

The prime minister, while announcing relief packages for the farmers, said that “We have lowered the prices of fertilisers and urea for its easy access to the farmers.” The government is working on providing cheap electricity to the farmers, he added.

Commenting on the overall power crisis in the country, Nawaz said the government has been working to end the menace of load shedding from the country. He also announced to release funds for the supply of gas to Layyah areas including Chowk Azam.

He announced health card programme for the people of Layyah that would purportedly give them access to free-of-cost medical treatment.

During his address, the prime minister said that PML-N does not respond to cuss words with cuss words but the party talks about development. The premier said that activists of the PML-N are close to his heart.

He would be visiting Layyah once more before General Elections 2018, he asserted.

Earlier, the premier performed groundbreaking of a four-lane bridge project on Indus River. One point five-kilometer-long bridge being built at a cost of seven billion rupees will link Layyah with Taunsa. The project also included two-lane 20 kilometres long approach roads. The new bridge will considerably reduce the distance between Layyah and Taunsa.
