Delay in the provision of books for FATA students

Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) secretariat should take steps for the provision of books to the students of Mohmand Agency timely next year, Senator Sitara Ayaz said.

Senator Sitara Ayaz gave these directives to the FATA Secretariat while chairing senate sub-committee on states and frontier regions (SAFRON) on Tuesday at the parliament house.

She was of the view that one whole year of a student has been wasted due to the non-availability of books in the Mohmand Agency. She said that FATA secretariat should appoint a focal person in the directorate.

Sitara Ayaz called for taking action against the concerning officers of FATA Education department.

She urged that lack of manpower at FATA Education Directorate should be resolved on urgent basis, as ten per cent of FATA students did not receive the books timely.

Senator Sajjad Hussain Turi said that the health and education department were suffering a lot due to the incompetence shown by FATA Secretariat.

The officers of FATA secretariat informed the senate body that over 5400 students who did not receive the books on time, shall receive them on time next year.

Secretary SAFRON Tariq Hayat Khattak has said that the problems of FATA were increasing day by day. Tariq informed the senate body that the administrative posts in education sector were vacant as over 1761 post were yet to be filled. He was told that advertisement had been given in this regard.
