Army repulses cross-border terror attack in Waziristan

The Pakistan Army repulsed a cross-border terrorist attack on two border checkposts in South Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in the early hours of Tuesday.

In a statement issued here, the military’s media wing said that the army troops valiantly repulsed the attack, killing three terrorists and injuring a number of others in an intense exchange of fire.

In the first week of April, a security personnel was martyred while another was injured in an explosion in South Waziristan. The explosion occurred when their vehicle hit a landmine in the area.

Also, a large cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists’ hideout in the month. In February, three Frontier Corps personnel were martyred in an explosion in Zarmelan area of South Waziristan Agency.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that the war against terrorism would reach its conclusion. He had said the entire nation appreciated the efforts of the security forces and tribesmen in their fight against terrorism.
