KARACHI: A summary has been moved to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for the establishment of 29 new district Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) offices.
This was said by newly-appointed Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director General Baqaullah Unar, while chairing a meeting at his office.
Unar applauded the efforts of making water-monitoring functional along with the enhancement of industrial monitoring.

Baqaullah Unar has also directed for the formation of advisory committees comprised of concerned experts for the better management of environmental monitoring.
During the meeting, it was finalised that at least 10 industrial units will be inspected periodically at every district of Karachi and at every regional office of the EPA at Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and after the allocation of funds the monitoring will pace up further.
The DG has directed the participants of the meeting to speed up the matter pertaining to the functioning of a lab to make the environmental watchdog more vigilant.
A staff which consists of the three microbiologists, Lab deputy director, field supervisor among others have been allocated from other regional offices of EPA Sindh to Karachi head office for the smooth functioning of the lab, similarly, for the monitoring of ambient air quality a mobile lab, two air stations have been made fully functional.
