Hum Awards 2017 a rousing success

Lahore, on Saturday night, hosted the 5th Hum Awards, which, like every year, were a glamourous and a star-studded event.

The red carpet was all about stars dressed up in their finest attire and the set up was grand making the Award show perfect.

Few stars that graced the red carpet included Osman Khalid Butt, HSY, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Anoushey Ashraf, Meera, Ahmed Ali Butt with his wife Fatima Khan, Ali Rehman and Bushra Ansari to name a few. The crowd was energetic and dressed up in their finest all set to enjoy the event.

As we headed towards the hall, we couldn’t help but notice the amazing decor. The seats were arranged inside the hall, which was huge and was a job well done by the organisers. But the spotlight was on who won what.

The night started with MC’s Mikaal Zulfiqar and Harem Farooq gracing the stage for the evening, and so it began, award after award and performance after performance.

The very first award was given to Qurat-ul-ain Baloch for the Most Popular Song. The highlight of the evening was definitely the tribute given to Junaid Jamshed by his sons, Salman Ahmed and his son. The audience went on an emotional roller coaster ride when they performed ‘Junoon Se’ and ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ recalling the times when Junaid Jamshed helped revive the pop music in Pakistan. ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ will be remembered by generations to come keeping JJ’s legacy alive. His Vital Signs was more than an inspiration for every Pakistani.

Another highlight was the child star award given to Arisha aka Zebo from ‘Udaari’ which was presented to her by none other than Paa Imtiaz aka Ahsan Khan. The idea that child abuse was addressed through this show had made waves in our society; focusing on how we, as a society, can raise awareness about such issues.

This was followed by Farida Khanum winning the Lifetime Achievement Award for being the legend that she is, presented to her by HUM TV’s President Sultana Siddiqui.

Another high spot for the celebration of Pakistan entertainment industry was the presence of Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb taking over the platform to present the recognition award to Pakistani films making their mark recently. The movies included Actor in Law, Jaanan and Mah-e-Mir.

Furthermore, some of the artists that kept the audience entertained during the night with their performances included Mehwish Hayat, Shahroz Sabzwari, Ahsan Khan, Asim Azhar with Momina Mustehsan, Kubra Khan to name a few.

From dances to awards, from the JJ tribute to social causes being recognised by the society through these dramas, the night sure ended with a bang because with every passing year Hum TV Network keeps on surprising its audience.
