GILGIT: Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson has said the other day that her country will provide all necessary support to promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), besides providing scholarships to deserving students to obtain quality education in Sweden.
She further disclosed that a comprehensive tour to Sweden would be arranged for the staff of Karakorum International University for their capacity building purposes.
During a meeting with the G-B Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan at Governor House, Johansson appreciated the high literacy rate in the region. The governor informed her that G-B is a strategically important region for the country and is a centre for tourism attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
He stressed upon Johansson to make all out efforts in convincing the Swedish government to provide scholarships to students of G-B in Swedish universities.
