PML-N leader hopeful of load-shedding free Pakistan

PML-N leader Daniyal Chaudhary has said that the government’s efforts to initiate various power projects to make Pakistan a load-shedding free country till 2018 is laudable.

According to Radio Pakistan, he said that the common people should realize that power shortfall was lower than previous governments. He said our power generation mechanism was better than earlier governments as we were trying to build thermal, solar, wind and other power plants in Pakistan.

Danial said that we would make Pakistan a load-shedding free country in coming year adding that the people did not pay bills on time and line losses also affected the electricity. He added that it was responsibility of the government to provide electricity to the people. However, the common people should also support the government in preserving the electricity. He maintained that the government under the leadership of the prime minister was working hard to get rid of energy crisis.

While, the Ministry of Water and Power has claimed that there was no undeclared loadshedding in the country, as power outages have reduced significantly after production of electricity from water has increased.

According to Ministry of Water and Power spokesperson, the consumption of electricity in Pakistan is 16103 megawatts, whereas, its production was 13236 megawatts. The electricity shortfall has reduced to 2867 megawatts, he said.

The spokesperson further told that 3924 megawatts of electricity were being produced from water, 2257 megawatts from power generation companies (GENCOS) and 7037 megawatts from Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
