At least 1400 retired employees of municipal corporation and 600 male and female pensioners of district government have not been paid a single penny on account of pension for the last four months in Rawalpindi Division.
According to the sources, the district government has given orders to stop the payments of pensions due to lack of funds.
The employees and pensioners have given strict warning to the authorities to pay them their outstanding salaries, otherwise, they will stage protest in the offices of mayor and deputy commissioner and their protest will continue unless arrangements are made for the payment of pension to them.
The pensioners criticised the government by saying that they had served the department and public for 30 to 35 years of their life and now the municipal corporation and district government were not paying pension to them.
