‘Authorities and public must cooperate to tackle terrorism’ – IG Investigation

IG Investigation Chaudhry Sultan, while heading a meeting between the members of the provincial assembly and police officials in Qurban Lines, said that coordination between public representatives and police is imperative for the establishment of peace in Pakistan. He said that with the former’s cooperation, providing justice to people at their doorsteps is the top priority of Lahore Police. If both the citizens and their representatives ensure to bar all unrelated persons from inhabiting their neighborhoods, a good deal worth of help could be provided to the police to eradicate terrorism from the city, all together, he added.

IG said that through the local eye software, the people can inform the police about any crime in a more efficient manner. Also, IG added, the Lahore police has increased the number of desks in every department to prevent the complaints from piling on.

On the direction of Lahore CCPO Capt (r) Muhammad Amin Wains a meeting has been scheduled between police and members of the Provincial Assembly to discuss the issues of the public and to devise a strategy to resolve them on urgent basis, IG said.

He added that a criminal must be punished for his crime, and for this to happen, better legislative work must be ensured by the lawmakers.

He urged the renters – of houses or shops –to get their rent deed registered with the police in accordance with the Punjab Rent Act 2015. In the same way, he added, employers of homemakers must get their employees registered with Registration of Employees Act – a software launched by the police – to avoid any theft that the employees may carry out.
