Vaccine ignorance cause of rise in childhood diseases: experts

Around 40 per cent children are facing incurable and perilous diseases because of a lack of awareness in the society towards the vaccination of the children.

This was stated by various speakers in a seminar titled: “Routine Immunization Awareness Campaign” organised by the district health department at the District Health Office, Badin on Friday.

While addressing the participants of the seminar, Dr Peeral Khan Khoso mentioned that it was our prior responsibility to raise the awareness among parents and common people to develop the healthy society but unfortunately we have failed to achieve the goal.

He deplored that people can queue up in front of banks for several days to withdraw the Benazir Income Support Programme amount but they deeply ignore vaccination of their children against fatal diseases. He termed this deep ignorance of parent’s part which can push children towards death.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Abdul Rasheed Arain urged the participants to take tangible and practical steps to prevent their children from nine dangerous diseases, adding that teachers, representatives of civil society, doctors, lady health workers and every citizen should put their viable efforts in place by raising awareness among the common people so children can be prevented from dangerous diseases.

On the occasion, Badin DHO Dr Hemraj Rathi, ADHO Dr Mehboob Khawaja, Dr Sheer Nohrio and others speakers also addressed the participants attending the seminar.
