Italian army chief calls on Gen Qamar Bajwa

Italian Chief of Army Staff General Danilo Errico called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Wednesday, and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in eliminating terrorism while lauding the results of Operation Raddul Fasaad, ISPR said in a brief statement.

According to the military’s media wing, the head of the Italian military expressed his appreciation for Pakistan Army’s successful efforts against terrorism during the meeting with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, the army chief and his Italian counterpart discussed matters of mutual interest with particular reference to enhanced military cooperation in the field of training and counter-terrorism domain. The visiting dignitary was also given a detailed briefing on the operation and training activities of the Pakistan Army.

Earlier upon his arrival at the GHQ, General Errico laid a floral wreath at ‘Yadgar-e-Shuhada’ while a contingent of the Pakistan Army presented him with the guard of honour.

Later, Italian Chief of Army Staff General Danilo Errico visited Naval Headquarters Islamabad and called on Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah.

During the meeting, professional matters of mutual interest came under discussion. The Naval Chief also highlighted Pakistan’s commitment and performance in fight against terrorism including participation of Pakistan Navy in Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan (CMCP) and Counter Piracy Operations.

Italian Chief of Army Staff praised Pakistan Navy’s role and he committed to maintain maritime security and stability in the region.
