Facilitate citizens of twin cities: Nisar

Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday criticized the Traffic Police (TP), saying that the increase in the travelling problems of citizens of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad was unbearable.

“If you, Traffic Police and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) cannot facilitate citizens, then you have no right to increase their difficulties as well,” he said while chairing a meeting which was attended by the senior officers of concerning departments of Ministry of Interior.

He asked both, NADRA and Traffic Police, that why problems of citizens were not addressed in spite of every day media reports that show heavy traffic congestion.

“Why Ministry of Interior has to intervene in every issue? Why don’t institutions do their own work,” the Minister questioned.

Chaudhry Nisar said that tough decisions could be taken regarding top positions in concerning departments if the situation remains the same.

The Minister also took notice of the deforestation process in Margalla Hills. He directed chief commissioner Islamabad to ensure the implementation of Supreme Court’s instructions in this matter. He asked Islamabad Capital Territory Administration that why action was not taken against those who were involved in this violation of law. The Minister directed the senior officials to see the sites in person instead of going to their offices.

He also directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and district administration to take action against those officials who failed to curb this activity.
