In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three educational boards are working without secretaries which shows lack of interest of the provincial government towards education. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mardan, Swat, and Kohat are running without secretaries.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act 1990, the secretary shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of notification of his appointment and shall be eligible for re-appointment for such further period, not exceeding three years, as may be specified in the order of re-appointment.

The secretary’s seat in Mardan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education is vacant for the last four months. According to sources, secretary has the authority to appoint duties of examination conduction.

Secretary post in any board is the key position which controls the entire academic and administrative sector. Secretary shall take all possible steps to ensure that the funds of a board are spent for the welfare of people.

The secretary arranges inspection teams during examinations and also releases the amount to teachers who take part in exam conduction.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa nowadays FA, FSc exams are going on and without secretaries in the boards, the official are facing difficulties.
