Census staff to get foolproof security: IGP Punjab

LAHORE: Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Captain (retd) Usman Khattak on Tuesday directed the security officials to ensure the safety of census teams and assist them in every way possible.

He expressed these views in a conference call with the province Rangers’ RPOs and DPOs at the Lahore’s Central Police Office.

Punjab Establishment Additional IG Capt(retd)ArifNiaz, Aijaz Hussain Shah, Additional IG PHP Amjad Javed Salemi, Discipline and Inspection IG Ijaz Hussain Shah, Welfare and Finance Additional IG  ShoaibDastagir, Operations Additional IG Muhsen Hassan Butt, and Investigation Additional IG Azhar Hameed Khokhar among others were present on the occasion.

The IGP also directed that the ongoing crackdown against criminals be made stricter to ensure the safety of every citizen and urged officers to utilise all available resources in order to maintain law and order situation.

The IGP appreciated the officers for ensuring foolproof security measures on Easter and Good Friday, and also for maintaining peace on Vaisakhi festival in Lahore, Attock, Gujranwala, Narowal, and Nankana Sahib. The IGP urged the officers to continue doing the same in future as well.

The police chief also directed that recovered stolen vehicles be returned to their owners at the end of every month under the supervision of RPOs and DPOs.

Khattak, while urging the officials to formulate a security plan for the month of Ramazan, directed that officers be on guard at every mosque and imambargah during the month.

The IGP Punjab has also ordered the officers to take strict action against food hoarders ahead of the holy month and to ensure fool proof security measures for Ramazan bazaars.

He urged the officers to participate in training courses for efficient performance on the job and instructed all the officers to send Annual Confidential Reports as soon as possible to the concerned officers.
