Today’s White Lies

Perhaps we need quantum physicists from MIT to come over and study how PTI and PML-N are BOTH claiming victory in the Panama verdict.

The verdict, interestingly enough, started with Mario Puzo’s merciless paraphrasing of a Balzac quote which had implied that behind every great fortune, there is a crime. The original quote was far more nuanced, as opposed to Puzo’s rich = crook.

Amidst the celebrations of the ruling party, perhaps the penny dropped only on Chaudhry Nisar, who asked what was being celebrated.

Imran Khan also had a bit of a volte face when, after the whole mithai rounds (he might not be the sharpest tool in the shed but what a metabolism!) he decided that the JIT was not acceptable to him if Nawaz were to remain the PM.

With the acquittal of Maryam Nawaz on certain quarters, specially the issue of whose dependent she is, the hangers-on of the party, the sort with sharp political antennae, are gravitating towards her if the whole sadiq and ameen thing were to hurt Nawaz Sharif. It’s clear who the heir apparent is going to be.
