Lok Virsa screens British film ‘Iron Lady’

 

 

Lok Virsa Mandwa Film Club on Saturday organised screening of British film ‘Iron Lady’ at its Media Centre.

Lok Virsa Executive Director Dr Fouzia Saeed and a large number of people from different walks of life participated in the film screening.

Dr Fouzia in her brief address welcomed the people in the Media Center, adding that Mandwa Film Club has resumed film screening after Lok Mela from today. She said that on weekly basis national and international films would be screened at Media Center of Lok Virsa

The drama film screened was based on the life and career of Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013), a British stateswoman and politician who was the longest-serving prime minister of the United Kingdom of the 20th century.

The film was directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Casting Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent, Harry Lloyd and Anthony Head.

While the film was met with mixed reviews, Streep’s performance was widely acclaimed, and considered to be one of the finest of her career.

The film also won the Academy Award for best makeup and the BAFTA Award for best makeup and hair.
