KARACHI: Federal Urdu University Mass Communication Department’s students organised traffic rules awareness campaign, course in-charge Tahira Tariq said on Thursday.
She said that it was held on the University Road in front of the main gate of Federal Urdu University’s Gulshan Campus in collaboration with the Sindh Traffic Police.
During the drive, a large number of students with traffic awareness posters and banners informed general public and motorist about traffic rules and road safety.
Tahira Tariq said that the objective of this campaign was to foster awareness among the youth and general public to follow traffic rules in order to avoid road accidents, injuries and loss of precious lives.
The awareness campaign was organised exactly at the same place where, during the month of February, this year four students of the university Rabia Hussain, Kiran Zafar, Amna Batool and Hunza died becoming a victim of over speeding and reckless driving, she said.
If traffic rules were followed such accident could have been avoided, she added.
Additional DIG Traffic Tahir Noorani and senior officers of the Traffic Police joined the campaign.
ADIG Tahir Noorani appreciated the efforts of the university and students and insisted that everybody must follow the traffic rules to avoid accidents and traffic jams.
