PM Nawaz should step down: Asif Ali Zardari

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should step down until the JIT completes its investigation.

While addressing the media he said that the two senior judges have stated that PM is neither ‘Sadiq’ nor ‘Ameen’. He further stated that the public has been fooled by this decision and this case might never be solved.

I salute the judge who has declared PM ineligible to rule,” Zardari said.

He said that prime minister should step down on an ethical basis.

Zardari said, “I know PM Sharif well. He will not resign till the end.”

The former Pakistani president stated that he cannot understand why Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders are distributing sweets following the judgment of the Panama Case.

He also termed Imran Khan as an “inexperienced politician”.

“PM Sharif capitalised on Imran Khan’s theatrics,” Zardari stated.

It should be noted Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to appear before a joint investigation team which will be formed to probe the Panama Papers scandal.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Gulzar Ahmad, in their dissenting notes, wrote that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was not eligible to be premier as he was not Sadiq and Ameen. The rest of the bench called for an additional investigation of the accusations.
