Badin DC reviews arrangements for census

BADIN: Badin Deputy Commissioner Shoukat Hussain Jokhio chaired a meeting to finalise the arrangements for the census on Thursday.

Badin -District Council Chairman Ali Asghar Halipoto, ADC-I Dr Ali Nawaz Bhoot, ADC-II Dr Imran-ul-Hassan Khuwaja, the assistant commissioners of all Talukas, and the representatives of population, health, education and other respective departments also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, it was decided that the census teams would be provided full security and other required facilities.

The census is a national obligation thus the staff should carry it out efficiently and the public must play their role as well by providing accurate facts, said the deputy commissioner, while addressing the meeting.

Shoukat Hussain Jokhio has also directed the WAPDA to avoid power outages in the district during the census because of security reasons. He also urged the representatives of civil society, political and religious parties to cooperate with census teams.

A major in Pak Army, Usman, said that there is a timeframe of 35 days to conclude the proceedings of the census in the district, including housing and population census. He warned that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

The health department was also directed to make sure of the availability of the staff at their medical units along with ambulances and medicines as any untoward incident be addressed successfully.

The 25 charge superintendents, 139 circle supervisors, 611 enumerators will offer their duties to complete the census 2017 in the district whereas, the district is divided into 1220 blocks for the Population and Housing Census – 2017, the meeting was informed.
