Unscheduled load shedding has destroyed government’s tall claims of ending power shortage. The National Power Control Centre (NPCC) has shut down LESCO’s four to five grid stations at the same time, making it one of the worst power outages over the last few years.

Here comes the sun, there goes the power: a routine which the NPCC is following religiously. The absence of power has badly affected the daily routine of citizens, making their lives hell. The frustrated public had come out on roads to record their protest against power outages but to no avail.

On Tuesday morning, four LESCO grid stations which include Gulshan-e-Ravi, Rewaz Garden, Kot Lakhpat and Garden Town, were shut down. After an hour, these stations were made operational but then the other four grid stations, including Rehman Park, Lahore Cantt, and Batapur were shut down. Similarly, Bhati Gate, Johar Town, Iqbal Town, Saidpur and Chah Meeran grid stations also remained non-operational at times.

The additional power load has resulted in unscheduled power outages in the city due to which LESCO grid stations are being shut down directly by the NPCC. And this has been happening for the last three days.

Lahore is facing a shortage of over 1500MW as the power supply is 2377MW while power consumption stands at 3500MW.

LESCO is failing to manage the power load, but according to their spokesperson, situation will be soon under control and then load shedding will return to normal routine.
