KARACHI: The officers and engineers of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) are “very efficient, competent” and had executed gigantic projects of water supply, expressways, wide roads, flyovers, town planning, housing, and sewerage in this metropolitan city.

These views were expressed by Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqi, who had overseen the functioning of the KDA, Capital Development Authority (CDA), and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) as a senior officer, in the past many decades, said a statement on Monday.

He was speaking as chief guest at a commemorative dinner hosted by KDA Director General Syed Nasir Abbas at the KDA’s 60th-anniversary celebrations at Civic Centre, here.

The event was also attended by the KDA’s former DGs, members, chief engineers, directors, senior officers (serving and retired).

He felt that the Karachi mayor and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president should also be made the members of the KDA’s governing Body.

He was confident that Nasir Abbas, a competent and professional officer will definitely succeed in reviving and continuing overall development of Karachi as was done in the past decades particularly in solving problems of people availability of the required civic facilities.
