The article supposedly written by Waqar Gillani, published on 9 April 2017 regarding the failed terrorist coup attempt in Turkey is full of misinformation, manipulation and slander. By publishing it the Pakistan Today is becoming accessory in disseminating such slander.
Disproving the false claims in the article, the entire international community has expressed its support to the democratically elected government of Turkey against the failed coup attempt. Prominent among them, along with Pakistan, were United States, European countries, China, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia and Iran. In addition, the Fetullah Gulen Terrorist Organisation (FETO) is recognised as a terrorist organisation by international organisations, such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Gulf Cooperation Council and also the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
On the night of 15 July, 248 Turkish citizens were martyred and 2193 were wounded by Gulenist terror organisation members who had infiltrated into the armed forces, police and other key state structures. It was referred to by then US Vice President Mr Biden as the ‘9/11 of Turkey’. Ms Kati Piri, European Parliament rapporteur, has also expressed that she has no doubts that FETO members were behind the coup.
In accordance with rule of law, tens of courts cases are being heard in courts regarding the FETO terrorist organisation and the coup attempt. More and more suspects who are being tried in courts are coming forth to reveal the involvement of Gulen and the FETO terrorist organisation structure behind the coup attempt.
Furthermore, over fifteen countries have closed down or took over control of the FETO affiliated schools and other structures in their territories. All these facts disprove the misinformation and manipulation attempts in the article. One cannot emphasise enough that using all kinds of methods including terrorism, deceit and exploitation, FETO is a threat not only for Turkey, but for all countries where it is active, Pakistan prominent among them.
