Public hospital pharmacy records to be computerised

Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Kh Imran Nazir along with Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan paid surprise visits to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Khanewal and Tehsil Headquarters (THQs) Hospitals of Shorkot, Kabirwala, and Mianchannu here on Sunday.

They inspected the emergency and indoor wards, pharmacies, and other departments of the hospitals, and reviewed the cleanliness and hygienic conditions in the hospitals.

The minister expressed his displeasure to the medical superintendent (MS) of THQ Shorkot who had failed to maintain a hygienic environment in the hospital. The minister also found faulty medicine storage in the pharmacy of the hospital. He took serious note of the situation and suspended the storekeeper Haq Nawaz for negligence of his duties. Nazir also faced the same situation during the visits to other hospitals.

Directing the records of pharmacies to be computerized, the minister said that keeping the medicines without defacing meant that the doors of pilferage of medicines were open. He directed the secretary to conduct audits of the medicine stock of the hospitals to check the situation. He said that no negligence in the duty would be tolerated. He also issued a warning to the MS for poor hygienic conditions.

Health Minister Kh Imran Nazir also directed the secretary to circulate his instructions to all medical superintendents of DHQ and THQ hospitals in the province alerting them that that no discrepancy would will be spared regarding the defacing of drugs.
