Rawalpindi/Peshawar/ Quetta: A three days anti-polio drive in Rawalpindi, Khyber Phuktunkwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Balochistan will commence on Monday.
The administration took special security measures to ensure that a fool-proof security is provided to the polio teams so that anti-polio campaign could be held in a good environment and without having an untoward incident.
Around 811,798 children up to the age of five under National Immunisation Day (NID) will be administered polio drops in the campaign.
A special control room has been established to receive complaints from the people and to monitor the progress of the vaccinators aimed to achieve 100pc target.
The local government had hired 1,400 officials and constituted 1,800 mobile teams, besides setting up 270 vaccination centres for this campaign.
Over 100 polio teams would administer polio vaccination drops to the children at public parks, bus stands, railway station and airport in the district.
The KP health department has set a target to administer polio drops to over 6 million children below the age of five years during the campaign, said an official.
A total of 1036309 children below the age of 5 years will be vaccinated by 4239 teams, comprising 3854 mobile teams, 284 fixed teams, 101 transit teams. The polio teams will be provided with foolproof security by the political agents, commissioners and law enforcing agencies.
Meanwhile, over 1million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops in anti-polio campaign in 19 districts of Balochistan.
During the campaign, over a million children under the age of five years will be administered polio drops in 16 districts. About 120,000 children under the age of two years will be vaccinated in respective districts including Pishin, Qilla Abdullah and part of Quetta.
Meanwhile, in 15 Union councils of Quetta children will be administered injectable polio vaccines (IPV).
Over 3893 teams will participate and among them, 3241 are mobiles teams, 458 fixed sites and 194 transit points have been set up for anti-polio drives.
The polio campaign is being started in the following districts, Awaran, Dera Bugti, Bolan, Gwadar, Kech, Harnai, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Qila Saifullah, Kohlu, Mastung, Lorelai, Naseerabad, Panjgur, Sibi, Ziarat, Pishin and Qila Abdullah.
The polio teams are also available at railway stations, bus stands and public places to ensure administering anti-polio drops to every child.
