Gas cylinder blast burns four of a family

Four members of a family received critical burn injuries after a gas cylinder blew up inside a house here on Saturday.

The incident took place at Muhammad Akram’s house, a CDA employee, located at CDA Colony, Sangjani, G-16, Islamabad when his wife lit the gas cylinder to prepare the food.

As a result, four members of his family including his 42-year-old wife Asia Shaheen, 10-year-old daughter Umme Habiba, 8-year-old son Muahmmad Muzamil and 5-year-old daughter Ume Tayebba sustained critical burn injuries.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to Burn Care Center at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in critical condition.

Asia Shaheen and Umme Habiba sustained 100 per cent burn injuries, while 50 per cent body of Muahmmad Muzamil and Ume Tayebba were burnt in the blast.

Talking to Pakistan Today, Dr Isaac Asher, PIMS Burn Center spokesperson, said that all the patients were in critical condition and body of the two were 100 percent burnt. He said that though the doctors at the center were making all-out efforts to save their lives, condition of three patients was critical; since their chances of survival were quite limited.
