Prime Minister’s Spokesman Musadik Malik has said that if the supply of gas to Sindh is made without payment of deposit amounting to Rs1 billion by the latter then NAB and media will point fingers on federation.
“NAB and the media will point fingers at us if we supply gas to Sindh without payment of a deposit of Rs1 billion by the latter. Supply of gas without a contract will be black marketing. If Sindh government wants to execute a new contract of gas, the federation is ready. They should bring new contract after an amendment from their lawyers, but then the supply of gas will be delayed,” he said this during a morning show on a private T V channel here Friday.
He held that Sindh government was of the view that matter of deposit should not be included in the gas contract, while gas supply agreement was signed in 2014. If Rs1 billion are not deposited by Sindh government then a problem will emerge in gas supply to them.
He ruled out any possibility of disconnection of gas supply.
It was tried to give an impression from CM Sindh’s Thursday speech that federal government didn’t want to supply gas to Sindh, but if federation supplies gas by violating the agreement then it will be black marketing, he added.
He further said there was and is no ban on supply of gas to domestic consumers either in the past or at present. Now the government has even lifted the ban on gas supply to commercial, industrial and multi-flats buildings, he added. 1.2 million cubic feet gas was imported. Federation wants to provide gas to Noori Abad plant, but it is not proper to do anything without any agreement, he maintained.
He observed the prime minister has lifted the ban on new gas connections from all over the country.
