Pakistanis are hoping their new prime minister will roll out high-profile projects that became his party's trademark in its political heartland of Punjab, but the nation's dire finances threaten the optimism. The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) won huge popularity and a reputation for getting things done with a series of big-ticket schemes over the past five years in Punjab, the country's richest, most populous province. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is due to visit Faisalabad on Saturday and will likely announce a Metro Bus Project for the public of Faisalabad during his special address.

According to sources, Shahbaz Sharif will be visiting Faisalabad after a span of over two years and will address local body representatives.  He will inaugurate 10 mega projects for Faisalabad including an expressway, girls’ hostels for Faisalabad Agriculture University, the General Hospital Ghulam Mohammadabad, and the Mini Water Project.

Local PML-N leadership and officials of local government have made necessary arrangements, including security arrangements for the visit of the chief minister.

In wake of security concerns, the local bodies convention will be held in the auditorium of the Agricultural University. The convention will be attended by chairmen, vice-chairmen, councillors, PML-N office bearers, and party workers in large numbers.

Shahbaz Shareef will also address the local government convention, where important announcements relating to various development projects, including a Metro Bus Project for Faisalabad, are likely to be made.

The chief minister will also visit the house of a martyred CDD official.
