Lord Nazeer Ahmed of the British House of Lords called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Friday to discuss matters of mutual interest and the Punjab government’s development programs for the people of the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Lord Nazeer Ahmed said that the Punjab government had served the people of the province immensely and that the credit for implementing merit and transparency in development projects could only be given to the government.

The government’s initiatives to eradicate corruption are being appraised at the international level as well, he said. He said that the establishment of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) for solving problems faced by countrymen living abroad was a commendable initiative of the provincial government.

The chief minister said that the voyage of progress and public service was pushing ahead speedily and setting new records. He said that the government had been buckling down with full commitment to drag the nation out of the issues it has been facing for the past four years, adding that the government was working hard to hand over a peaceful and stable Pakistan for the coming generations.

Various programs have been initiated to empower the youth, including a skill development program with the collaboration of British organisation DFID which is moving forward smoothly, he said.
