Why is CM Punjab defending coal based power?

The CM Punjab has defended coal power in an English newspaper, dated 12-04-2017, in spite of coal being the dirtiest fuel.  What about clean energy from our water resources which can generate 60 thousand MW of clean energy that we’ve been waiting for 4 decades to fully exploit?  We want to dig dirty coal while water flows on the surface, waiting to be stored.  CM wants to tell us about beneficial use of coal but does not tell us about pollution based diseases that would afflict the citizens of Sahiwal who are waiting like silent lambs to be sacrificed at the altar of CM’s grandiose ideas.  Will the high minded CM tell us about the woes of coal based energy to the nation?

  1. It was the same chief minister who said at the beginning of his present tenure that Kalabagh dam is very important for Pakistan and we will do our best to develop consensus on it, the reaction was so violent from the leaders of PPP and ANP and from PML-N allies in KP and Sindh that the chief minister had to rephrase his comment to say that Kalabagh dam will not be built without consensus of all the provinces. Please tell me, is the CM at fault for not talking about Kalabagh dam or are those to blame who do not want to even hear the name of Kalabagh dam. Our criticism should be for the latter and not the former.
