Station vendors collude with railways staff to delay trains

Passengers of Lahore-Narowal section of the Pakistan Railways (PR) expressed concern over unnecessary delays at Shahdara railway station here on Wednesday.

Talking to the media, PR Daily Passengers Association Chairman Hafiz Abdul Qayyum said that trains to Narowal and Sialkot were unnecessarily delayed at Shahdara by the local staff in collusion with the vendors at the railway station.

He said that 209-Up Faiz Ahamd Faiz Express train which leaves Lahore at 6:30 pm on Tuesdays were intentionally delayed for more than 45 minutes.

He requested the railways administration and PR Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique to look into the matter in public interest, adding that necessary directions should be issued to traffic staff to ensure the timely departure of all trains.

When contacted, local railway staff said that there were some technical problems which had caused the delay of 209-Up Faiz Ahmad Faiz Express.
