Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to the expansion project of the Allama Iqbal International Airport on his way back from Multan here on Wednesday.
The Civil Aviation Authority’s director-general briefed the chief minister on the project’s progress.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government had developed a greenbelt along the airport to improve the beauty of the airport. He said that the land allocated for the greenbelt should be used as little as possible during the expansion project, adding that the option of an indoor parking lot should be reviewed. The beauty of the airport should be kept in mind during the expansion, he concluded.
The chief secretary, Lahore commissioner, and other relevant officials were also present during the surprise visit.
