KARACHI: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Wednesday referred the matter of an acute shortage of water in the province to the concerned committee of the Parliament.
Giving his ruling on the point of public importance raised by Senators
Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamra Aajiz, Sussui Palijo, Taj Haider, Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari and Saeedul Hassan Mandokhail, the chairman also directed the committee to submit its report within a month.
The senators were of the view that due to a water shortage in Sindh, the major crops were bound to be affected.
Replying to the matter, Water and Power Minister Abid Sher Ali said that water share to the provinces is being strictly followed in accordance with the 1991 accord.
There is an equal distribution of water to all the provinces and there is no discrimination in this regard, the minister assured.
