PM approves Hajj policy 2017

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet, on Wednesday, approved the Hajj policy package for 2017 in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pakistan Nawaz Sharif.

The decision was taken during the meeting held at the PM office in Islamabad where the premiere is said to have directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to work out Hajj expenses and present rates in the next cabinet meeting. He instructed the religious ministry to provide maximum facilities to the pilgrims in the most reasonable cost.

The prime minister also lauded the ministry for providing support and facilitating the Hujjaj last year.

Earlier this week, the government had announced that applicants, who have performed Hajj in the last seven years, will not be eligible to apply for the religious pilgrimage under the government scheme in 2017. Hajj-e-Badal will be allowed only through private Hajj scheme.

The PM had instructed the ministry to pay special attention to arrangements at the airports; provision of three daily meals in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalfa, and general facilitation for Hujjaj in lodging and travelling.
