Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was honoured with the Living Legend Lifetime Award by the Indian Punjab Association on Tuesday, reported Times of India. The actor took to Twitter to announce the honour bestowed upon him, stating that he was “humbled” at receiving the award.
Apart from sharing a few pictures of himself with his trophy, he also tweeted, “Mr Ranbir Singh Chandok and Mr Anand of the Punjab Association visited me today.”
This was followed with a tweet that read, “God is kind. Humbled at receiving the Living Legend Lifetime Award from Punjab Association this afternoon.”
The 94-year-old actor also shared pictures of a wall mural of himself created by artist Asif Farooqui on Hill Road in Bandra, Mumbai. Dilip thanked the artist for all the love and the installation. “So much love from Asif Farooqui. Thank you for this beautiful wall mural on Hill Road in Bandra. God bless you,” he tweeted.
Last week, the Bollywood veteran was admitted to the hospital for respiratory problems. However, he has reportedly been discharged and is back home now. His wife, Saira Banu took to Dilip’s official Twitter account to give an update about him.
“By the grace of God, Dilip Sahab is at home and doing well. God has been very kind. Sahab believes that to be surrounded by family and friends who love him unconditionally is therapy by itself. Sahab is blessed with the prayers and love of his millions of fans, admirers, friends and well-wishers. He himself will be back on twitter soon, Insha’Allah,” the post read.
Dilip Kumar was last seen on screen in the 1998 film Qila. The thespian was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contribution to the Indian cinema. The Pakistani government had also honoured him with its highest civilian honour – Nishan-e-Imtiaz, in 1998.
