ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians of Awami National Party have launched a hunger strike outside the parliament house on Wednesday against alleged cornering of Pakhtoons.

ANP has objected to government’s step to block Computerised National Identity Cards of Pakhtoons by branding it a move to corner the persons.

Protesting representatives of the ANP have said that they are all for blocking fake ID cards but it is not acceptable to corner Pakhtoons. Former chief minister Amir Haider Hoti has warned the federal government against the move.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Khurshid Shah participated in the protest to express solidarity with the cause and the political party on the matter.

On the occasion, Shah said that every citizen of the country has the constitutional right to possess a CNIC card. Shah further said that ANP has opted for a peaceful way to record its protest and the government should address the concerns.
