Sikh yatrees to arrive from India on Wednesday

A good number of Sikh yatrees (pilgrims) from India will arrive at the Wagha Railway Station here on Wednesday by special trains to attend the 319th Khalsa Janam Din and Besakhi festival at Gurdwara Punja Sahib, Hassanabadal.

Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB) Chairman Siddiq Ul Farooq, other officials, and members of the local Sikh community will warmly welcome the Sikh yatrees on their arrival at Wagha Railway Station.

Soon after their arrival, the yatrees will leave for Punja Sahib, Hasanabadal, where they will stay for three days.

The central ceremony of the Besakhi festival will be held at Punja Sahib on April 14 where the Sikh yatrees will perform their religious rituals. They will also visit Janam Asthan, Nankana Sahab, on April 15 and Sucha Sauda, Farooqabad the next day, before visiting Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on the 18th, and Kartarpur Narowal on the 19th.

A seminar titled Besakhi will be held here at Aiwan-i-Iqbal for the pilgrims on April 20 where Punjab Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana will be the chief guest before the Indian Sikhs return to India on April 21.
