Police foil a robbery attempt, arrest two

KARACHI: Two accused were arrested in a reported robbery attempt in a house at Gulshan-e-Iqbal block 5 in Karachi on Tuesday.

The police arrested two of the accused after an encounter, said the sources.

Three armed men barged into the house of Haji Ghulam and held him and his family hostage at a gunpoint while a neighbour informed the police.

The police reached the spot when the accused were trying to flee after looting valuables.

The culprits resorted to indiscriminate firing in a bid to escape. In retaliation, the police fired and arrested two robbers Rizwan and Mazar Abbas, while their other accomplices escaped.

The police recovered two TT pistols along with nine rounds and one motorcycle from their possession said Police Station SHO Gulshan Iqbal Farooq Sanjarni.

Police registered an FIR and further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, the Tamouria Police arrested two accused of street crimes in routine patrolling and recovered cash and valuables.

According to Tamouria SHO Tassawar Ameer, the accused were identified as Naveed and Salman. They are wanted in several other cases of crimes.
